A message from Wharf Distillery and Deli:
Very excited to be supporting the Buckingham Literary Festival, and in particular, sponsoring what will be a massively entertaining talk, “Eggs or Anarchy”, by William Sitwell at 11:30am on the 16th June. We will be offering free tasters of our new gin, “Safine Drenc”, before and after.
See you there!
William Sitwell is an acclaimed food writer, presenter and broadcaster. Regular on MasterChef and BBC2’s A Question of Taste, he is also Editor of Waitrose Kitchen Magazine. In his latest book, Eggs or Anarchy, he explores the history of how Britain fed the nation during the shortages of World War Two with supply routes under attack from the Axis powers and resources scarce. He tells how the government persuaded the people to accept rationing over the temptations of the black market and how food was actually kept on the shelves – with great ingenuity and even a little sleight of hand.
